Prepare yourself this hurricane season by signing up to receive emergency notifications from Alert Polk.
Communication is key in any emergency and knowing what information to pay attention to can make a difference. Polk County uses the Alert Polk system to inform county residents about public safety threats and concerns. During situations which may affect the health, safety and welfare of Polk’s residents, official messages are sent to telephone numbers and email addresses within the affected geographic area.
When the message is sent, you will be notified, giving specific information about the current announcement.
Emergency notifications include:
- Tornadoes/severe weather
• Mandatory evacuations
• Boil water notifications
• Gas leaks
• Sexual predator relocation notices
• Critical law enforcement notifications
• Hurricane recovery information
When you subscribe for emergency notifications, you’ll also have the option of receiving community informational alerts.
You don’t have to live in the county to register. When you register, please be aware that phone carrier charges may apply for all alert messages and data. You will only receive alerts that affect the address you register, which can include where you work, your child’s school, a vacation home or any other location within Polk.
