To reaffirm its commitment to racial and ethnic equality, the City of Bartow’s Community Relations Committee (CRC) will hold a Diversity Luncheon on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at noon.
“There are daily reminders to us all of how important this issue still is in America, and that promoting racial and ethnic equality and ending racism and discrimination requires awareness, commitment, and action,” said Gloria Washington, Chairman of the CRC. “This is an opportunity for Bartow to stand up and be counted in an ongoing effort to make sure our community fosters racial and ethnic equality and harmony.”
Mr. Deric C. Feacher is our keynote speaker for this year’s Diversity Luncheon. He has served as the City Manager of Haines City, Florida and City Manager of Winter Haven, Florida. He currently is the City of Daytona Beach’s City Manager. Mr. Feacher is responsible for implementing the policy of the City Commission, preparing the city’s annual budget and ensuring the city operates in a fiscally-responsible manner. As chief executive officer, Mr. Feacher is responsible for the day-to-day management of all operations of city government. Deric C. Feacher has 20 years of senior level executive experience managing local government. His major strengths include strategic planning, organizational management and development, collective problem solving, interpersonal relations, team building, community relations, financial/budget management and communications. He has a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Bethune-Cookman University, and has completed Harvard University’s senior executive in state and local government executive education program.
The annual Diversity Award will be presented to a business or organization and an individual at the luncheon. Nominations are being accepted for the award.
