Patrick Noze
Born in Haiti in 1962 in the province of Jeremie, “the city of poets,” Patrick Noze was first introduced to art by his father Robert Noze and grandfather Andre Dimanche, making Patrick Noze a third-generation sculptor and painter. When Patrick was just five years old, a tourist paid $50 for Patrick’s first painting, which depicted the Rara celebration of Passover within Haitian culture.
Noze came to the US when he was nine years. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1990 with a minor in education from the prestigious School of the Visual Arts at Pratt Institute in New York. For five years, he studied on weekends at the School of Visual Arts as a non-degree-seeking but determined student to advance his skills as an artist.
His painting style eventually transitioned from the European aesthetic – gained through his academic education – to an Artist of the Americas with African roots. In 2013, he painted an entire school bus in seven days at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center for the Crealdé exhibition, “Keeping Haiti in our Hearts.”
In January of 2022, Noze custom painted a 1997 Jaguar, reflecting his Haitian heritage, which sold at the international Mecum Classic Car Auction in Kissimmee, the world’s largest. He creates artwork mostly for private commissions in New York and his home in Florida. He possesses extensive Central Florida connections, including past collaborations with Crealdé and the Hannibal Square Heritage Center.
In addition to being a prolific visual artist and educator, he works as an illustrator, restorer, and creative painter of vintage and collectible cars, making him a true Renaissance man. Noze became Crealdé’s Senior Gallery Curator in the fall of 2022.
The Frost Law Firm, P.A. Bloomin’ Arts Festival is a juried Fine Arts festival and is Bartow’s premier event of the year. It is held on the first full weekend each March. Originally called the Spring Art Festival, it has evolved into one of the top festivals in Central Florida and features artists from all across the country.
The festival is a collaboration of the Bartow Art Guild, City of Bartow, Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce, and Main Street Bartow. Event Co-Chairs, Michell Githens and Lara Fredericksen, coordinate an all volunteer staff and workers consisting of members from all areas of the community. These are dedicated, hard working volunteers and truly the backbone of the event.
The festival takes place along several blocks of beautiful, historic downtown Bartow and local businesses and restaurants are open to welcome festival goers.
