38th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Coming Up
Bartow Mayor Trish Pfeiffer welcomes everyone to attend the 38th Annual Mayor’s Sunrise Prayer Breakfast, which will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Bartow Civic Center beginning at 7:00 a.m. Doors open at 6:30 a.m.
Freddie Stevenson, a former football player for Florida State University, will share an inspiring story with us on March 11. Stevenson, who faced many challenges growing up in poverty in Bartow, including homelessness and having a father in and out of prison, used football as his way out. Despite facing numerous obstacles, Stevenson’s perseverance and faith led him to achieve great success, including winning a National Championship and having a shot in the NFL.
After his football career ended, Stevenson wrote a book called ‘Trials to Triumph’, detailing his journey to success. The book became a best seller, leading Stevenson to create a documentary of the same name. Through his story, Stevenson wanted to help other athletes navigate the tough transition from sports to life beyond the field. His message resonated with a wide audience beyond just athletes, as many people related to the struggles of finding their true purpose in life.
Reflecting on his own journey, Stevenson emphasizes the importance of finding one’s purpose and identity beyond sports. He hopes that by sharing his story, he will inspire others to overcome challenges and find their own paths to success.
